The city government, in cooperation with PTT Philippines and non-government organizations, embarked on Sunday their tree planting, reforestation and re-greening activities ,dubbed as “Color Run Tayabas,” in various planting sites here.
The “color run” program was festive as various sectors donned in various colors, dominated by mostly the millennials carrying seedlings and planting materials,
roamed the neighborhoods and communities where they planted the narra and guyabano seedlings.
The activities were spearheaded by the City Council through Vice Mayor Nick Abesamis and City Councilor Wenda Saberola and the PTA Federation of Tayabas and Municipality Integrated High Schools. More than 1,000 narra and guyabano planting materials and seedlings were donated by PTT Philippines as part of its social corporate responsibility (CSR) project for the environment.
Saberola, who also currently chairs the PTA Federation, said they are conducting the yearly activity and have broadened the engagements among the locals in the “color run” involving all sectors from young and old, teachers, students, professionals, workers and the community.
Saberola said the activity aimed that each individual could plant a tree even right at their own backyard that could greatly contribute to improved health and care for the environment.
